Next Thursday, September 28, 2017, MNPCA will deliver 10,000 election cards to the Dayton Administration demanding that a decertification election be held despite the Administration’s 16 months of delay, interference and obstruction. Join us at the State Capitol Basement Press Room at 9:00 a.m., for comments and questions at 9:30 a.m., followed by the card delivery.
We will also be back in Ramsey County District Court and at the Court of Appeals in October. We will build on our victories in getting the PCA lists and upholding the injunctions against the Administration by seeking court help to remove all obstructions and force the election. These steps are essential so that PCAs can gain control over their lives again by pursuing the legal election process to decertify (remove) SEIU-Healthcare as the exclusive representative of about 20,000 home-based PCAs in the “bargaining unit.”
“The SEIU was imposed by 3,543 of the claimed 27,000 PCAs in a low turnout election in 2014,” said Doug Seaton. “Most PCAs do not want the SEIU interfering with their families and skimming off part of the Medicaid benefit for their special needs family members,” added Kris Greene. She pointed out that, “Our 10,000 PCAs are almost 3 times the number of SEIU voters.”
“The Legislature and Congress fund and authorize these benefits, so the Union adds nothing,” said Seaton, “and should be removed.” “Doing so,” added Catherine Hunter, “will protect the PCA program for families caring for a disabled family member, end the SEIU’s interference in pursuit of its own agenda, and prevent the trickery and fraud the SEIU has engaged in to get PCAs to submit to ‘dues deductions’ from their benefits of up to $1,000 per year.”
Personal Care Attendants (PCA) Kris Greene and Catherine Hunter, MNPCA Attorney Douglas P. Seaton, former Senator (and PCA) Al DeKruif, and other PCAs supporting decertification of the SEIU and their supporters, including Tom Steward and Kim Crockett at the Center of the American Experiment, the Center for Independent Employees, and the Center for Worker Freedom, announced today that “the end is near” to the 16-month MNPCA campaign to remove the fake union SEIU from the PCA program. Victory will be ours!
